U.S. Sales

Company Overview

IMC AgriBusiness

The U.S. retail and dealer arm of IMC Global, IMC AgriBusiness includes the FARMARKET®, Rainbow®, and IMC Nitrogen distribution networks.

This business unit sells agricultural crop nutrient products on a wholesale basis to independent dealers and distributors, including those that perform services similar to those offered by FARMARKET retail outlets. These products are sold under the brand names Rainbow® and Super Rainbow® in the southeastern region of the United States and under various brand names in the Midwestern region of the United States.

IMC AgriBusiness operates several granulation plants throughout the United States which are used by both the retail and wholesale operations. In addition, the business unit operates numerous smaller facilities, which are used for bulk-blending and/or warehousing in connection with its retail and wholesale operations.

Together, FARMARKET and Rainbow have more than 200 locations in the Midwest and Southeast. They also provide year-round crop advisory services. Their parent company, IMC AgriBusiness, produces about 300,000 tons of nitrogen annually in the form of anhydrous ammonia, nitrogen solutions and urea. Nitrogen output is used internally, as well as sold directly to independent retail dealers.

IMC AgriBusiness is situated in areas with stable, high-value crop production and cost-effective access to distribution channels. The business unit is one of the lowest-cost distributors of nitrogen in its marketing areas, and has an established leadership position in serving the needs of high-yield precision agriculture. IMC AgriBusiness is benefiting from the continuing consolidation of the U.S. retail distribution industry.

Each FARMARKET retail outlet custom- and bulk-blends crop nutrients to meet the needs of individual farmers for the specific crops grown in their areas. Pesticides, herbicides and seed also are purchased by IMC AgriBusiness and sold through its FARMARKET retail outlets. One of FARMARKET’s most successful programs is the Balanced Fertility Program, which is designed to improve crop production through increased yields per acre. Key elements of this program include soil testing and programs to correct soil deficiencies. FARMARKET retail outlets also offer farmers the option of having their crop nutrient and crop protection chemicals applied, saving time, labor costs and the cost of investment in specialized equipment required for such applications.
