IMC-Agrico Company is the premier worldwide phosphate supplier through its industry-leading production, marketing, distribution and customer support systems. Phosphates are one of the three primary plant nutrients, the others being nitrogen and potassium. The primary use for phosphates is in fertilizing crops world-wide with corn, wheat, and soybeans accounting for approximately two-thirds of the world’s 60 million tons per year demand for phosphate fertilizers. IMC-Agrico Company, with approximately $1.5 billion in annual revenues, is a joint venture between Northbrook, Illinois-based IMC Global Inc. (NYSE: IGL) and Phospate Resource Partners(NYSE: PLP). IMC Global Owns 51.6% of PLP and is PLP's managing general partner.

The Company produces and markets phosphate-based agricultural fertilizers and animal feed supplements, as well as specialty and by-products, including: AGROTAIN® urease inhibitor, urea, sulfuric acid, and uranium. Its low-cost, integrated facilities consist of six surface mines located in central Florida, and seven high-analysis concentrated phosphate manufacturing plants. Three of the plants are located in Florida near the mining operations and three are located in Louisiana along the Mississippi River.

The unique efficiencies and flexibility of IMC-Agrico include direct access to multiple terminals on the Gulf of Mexico for export shipments, as well as strategic positioning on the Mississippi River for shipping product by barge to the nation’s largest farming region. Multiple plants are operated to optimize product mix and responsiveness to customers’ needs at the lowest possible cost. In addition, IMC-Agrico Company serves North American customers through an extensive rail and marine transportation system and warehousing network.

During fiscal 1997, exports represented 52 percent of the joint venture's revenues, North American agriculture accounted for the remaining 48 percent.

The IMC-Agrico Feed Ingredients business unit aquired in October 1995 brought additional opportunities to the joint venture by involving it in the broader aspects of agriculture, both domestically and in the expanding animal nutrition business in Asia. This business unit is one of the world’s largest and lowest-cost producers of phosphate and potash feed supplements.

IMC-Agrico Feed Ingredients benefits from a low-cost, secure supply of key product inputs from both IMC-Agrico Company and IMC Kalium -- IMC Global’s potash business. Strong brand recognition, backed by nutritional expertise and an extensive distribution network, have enabled IMC-Agrico Feed Ingredients to establish a leadership position in the global mineral nutrition industry.
